McLeod Hospice will celebrate the 41st Annual “A Light for Someone You Love” Tree Lighting Ceremony, presented by Signature Wealth Strategies, in Florence on December 3, 2026, at 5:45 p.m. The ceremony will be held at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

This year, the McLeod Hospice Tree Lighting Ceremony will feature very special participants. Dr. Trey Bishara will extend a warm welcome to guests on behalf of the McLeod Health Board of Trustees. Chip Munn, of Signature Wealth Strategies, will lead the dedication ceremony, while Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Rev. Monica Griffen-Twine will guide us in the lighting of the candles. Rev. Dr. Rod Elliott, Pastor of Cheraw First Baptist Church with McLeod Hospice will offer the closing prayer and Will McLeod, CEO of McLeod Regional Medical Center, will bring the program to a close, marking the end of a memorable evening as we celebrate 40 years of the Hospice Tree Lighting.

The family of the late Dr. Clyde “Shot” Padgett will have the honor of lighting the trees, a heartfelt tribute that represents all the families McLeod Hospice has had the privilege of serving this year. Throughout the ceremony, we will also be sharing a special slideshow featuring pictures of loved ones who have passed as a tribute to honor their memory. Families that would like to participate by submitting a picture of their loved ones should email the image to kendra.collins@mcleodhealth.org.

An annual fundraising event to support the McLeod Hospice program, this event is free and open to the public. Many of our families purchase a light in memory or honor of someone ($25 donation per light) as a way to provide support for this compassionate care. Names of those remembered are included in the printed program that evening.

Please be sure to include the name(s) of those you would like to remember as well as the name and address of anyone you would like to acknowledge of your gift.  Proceeds raised through the tree lighting will directly benefit McLeod Hospice.

“The Light for Someone You Love” program is sponsored by the McLeod Health Foundation to directly benefit McLeod Hospice.  Gifts represent the light of hope to McLeod Hospice patients and their families. McLeod Hospice serves patients in Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Horry, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Sumter and Williamsburg counties.

Lights should be purchased by Monday, November 30 to ensure listing in the program.
