• How many medical staff members does your hospital system have?

  McLeod Health has more than 900 physicians on the medical staff, as well as an additional 300+ advanced practice providers.

• How many beds does your hospital system have?

  As of January 2023, McLeod Health has 988 beds with 941 of those being licensed as acute by SC DHEC. In addition to McLeod Regional Medical Center with 517 licensed beds and 48 additional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Beds, these McLeod Health respected acute-care facilities give McLeod greater flexibility in providing care to those outside of Florence County: McLeod Health Dillon with 79 licensed beds, McLeod Health Loris with 50 licensed beds, McLeod Health Seacoast with 155 licensed beds, McLeod Health Cheraw with 59 licensed beds, McLeod Health Clarendon with 81 licensed beds, and McLeod Behavioral Health provides 23 inpatient psychiatric beds. McLeod Hospice serves the community with inpatient Hospice Beds for respite and end-of-life care. The only inpatient Hospice facility in the Pee Dee region, the McLeod Hospice House includes 24 licensed beds.

• What is your service area?

  The primary service area includes the following eight counties in South Carolina: Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Horry, Marion, and Marlboro.

  The secondary service area includes the following ten counties: Georgetown, Lee, Sumter, and Williamsburg in South Carolina and Anson, Brunswick, Columbus, Richmond, Robeson, and Scotland in North Carolina

• How is the malpractice environment?

  South Carolina recently enacted Tort Reform in our state, creating a “physician friendly” environment for the medical profession. As a non-profit organization, McLeod qualifies for certain liability limits for a single occurrence, as long as the employed physician is acting within the scope of his/her employment.

• Are you offering hospital employment?

  McLeod offers employment as well as an income guarantee. This is based on the physician opportunity.

• What is the pay range for your opportunities?

  We base our physician salaries on the MGMA data as well as 4 other salary surveys. Compensation packages are based on skills and experience.

• What benefits are offered at McLeod Health for Physicians?

  Employed physicians at McLeod can select from many different benefits to help protect their health, wealth, and well being. McLeod has medical and dental plans, a 401k, 403b, and a 457b retirement plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, a health care reimbursement account, and a dependent care reimbursement account. McLeod also has generous vacation time for the physicians and on-site childcare. For physicians relocating to the area, we also provide a relocation allowance.

• What is the Payor Mix?

  We have a combination payor mix of private insured patients, medicare, and medicaid.

• Is McLeod Regional Medical Center designated as a Trauma Center?

  Yes. We are a Level II trauma center.

• Do you have any academic affiliations?

  McLeod Regional Medical Center has a Family Medicine Residency Program on site. It has been in existence for more than 30 years and graduates 6-8 Residents each year. Also, some of our physicians are affiliated with either the University of South Carolina or the Medical University of SC.

• What is the average cost of homes in your area?

  The price and style of homes varies. Homes range from $50,000 to over $1,000,000. We also have apartments and condos available to rent or own.
