I am honored to write to you today. Through your generous support of the McLeod Health Foundation, you have shown you care about our patients and value excellent healthcare for our region.
My wife, Dr. Pinky Vaidya, and I came to practice at McLeod Health Seacoast six years ago. We are blessed to have found such a special place to call home. I care for patients as an Oncologist and Hematologist and my wife serves patients as a Rheumatologist.
We have been so impressed with the generosity of donors like you.
This is an exciting time for our community as McLeod Health has committed to building the new McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research at Seacoast. For the very first time, our region will have access to comprehensive cancer treatment within one location.
I want you to understand how transformational this new facility will be for the healthcare available in our region.
No longer will patients who are struggling through their cancer treatment need to travel to receive their various lifesaving services. With all the care available under one roof, a major obstacle for patients will be removed.
Cancer care will be less fragmented with better communication, additional services to improve their journey, and the latest technology needed to help ensure survival.
The Cancer Center will allow us to attract bright new specialists to our area as we continue to expand services locally. Also, new technology will provide better access to tests for early detection -- the key to surviving cancer.
The McLeod Foundation has been charged with raising $2 million to help fund this tremendous investment which benefits our coastal region. The Hope and Healing Campaign team is reaching out to generous supporters like you to help reach this important goal.
As a Foundation supporter, you may also be aware of the HOPE (Helping Oncology Patients Everyday) Fund, an amazing program that provides services for cancer patients who struggle financially during their treatment.
This compassionate care is funded by donations from people like you. Through these gifts, patients receive help with transportation, medications, supplies, nutrition, and many other immediate needs. We anticipate that the need for the HOPE Fund will greatly increase with the opening of the new Cancer Center.
As you are considering your year-end giving, I ask you to join us in this noble effort by making your personally meaningful gift in support of the campaign or the HOPE Fund. Your gift will change the lives of so many who are battling this frightening disease.
Because you care, I want to tell you about one of my patients who has been helped by generous donors to the McLeod Foundation.
Facing a diagnosis of liver cancer that had metastasized, this patient was also coping with the loss of her husband. She was working full-time to support her family but became too sick and lost her job. Her son returned from school to care for her.
The lifesaving treatments she needed required her to travel to several locations and the expense overwhelmed her resources. The HOPE Fund was there for her with gas vouchers to ensure she could receive the care she needed to survive. Without this assistance, she would not have come for her treatments.
Donors like you gave her hope and a reason to continue her treatments. Her son has been able to return to school at a local community college and will graduate this year. This patient has become a champion for our program and is tremendously grateful for supporters like you.
What a wonderful feeling to know that your donations to the McLeod Foundation will change people’s lives. Please give generously today.
With gratitude to you,
Donny Huynh, MD
