As an adult (18+) victim, you have options for reporting acts of violence, including sexual assault and Domestic/Intimate Partner Violence (DV/IPV). Below you will find three options with and without evidence collection.
1. Confidential/Anonymous/Blind Report (our forensic nurse examiner will perform exam; NO law enforcement is involved – sexual assault only):
2. Law Enforcement Report Filed (our forensic nurse examiner will perform exam and file report):•
3. Medical exam only (physician will perform exam; no evidence collected):
4. Depending upon type of assault/abuse. Evidence collection time frames can vary. Some can be less than the 120 hours for different types of cases.
** Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit is securely kept by the Forensic Services department. If a report is made within one year (30 days for spousal sexual assault), the kit will be sent to the law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. If a report is not made within that time frame, the kit will be destroyed.
