Occupational therapy helps patients participate in the activities of everyday life, including work, leisure, self-care and daily household activities. Our Occupational Therapists work with patients of all ages to restore functions and improve their overall quality of life. We have specialized areas of therapy in some locations including hand therapy and work recovery programs.

  • McLeod Hand Center Therapists Reduce Pain and Improve Aptitude and Attitude

    • Wound management services include debridement, suture removal, dressing changes, pin care and patient education for home programs.
    • Pain management provides modalities, exercise, stretching and pain reduction techniques.
    • Therapeutic exercise and manual therapy helps regain motion, strength and the ability to perform tasks.

    • Splinting includes customized static, serial static and dynamic splints, which are made to protect injured structures, to mobilize stiff joints and to enhance upper extremity function.
    • To encourage independence in self-care activities, we assess the activities of daily living and needs for adaptive equipment. Then, train the patient.
    • Prosthetic services include wound care, stump preparation and prosthetic training.

  • Industrial Rehabilitation

    The McLeod Industrial Rehabilitation Center in Florence, SC offers area businesses and industries a full range of cost saving services, including Physical Ability Testing injury prevention, ergonomics, job site evaluations, and functional job descriptions.

    This training, for groups or individuals, provides instruction to reduce onsite injuries and loss productivity due to injury. Presentations are available on-site or at our clinic on the benefits of safe work practices for: body mechanic techniques (lifting, grip strength, posture), movement deficiencies and/or asymmetries, and ergonomic office and industrial evaluations.
