William M. Goldstein, MD, joins McLeod Medical Center Dillon Hospitalist Team

McLEOD DILLION 22 DECEMBER 2015

McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce that William M. Goldstein, MD, has joined the McLeod Dillon Hospitalist team. Dr. Goldstein is board certified in internal medicine and brings over seven years of experience as an inpatient, hospitalist physician.

Dr. Goldstein holds a chemical engineering degree from Clemson University, Clemson, SC. He furthered his education at Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine.

"I wanted to continue in the footsteps of my father and grandfather who were physicians," said Dr. Goldstein. "As a hospitalist, I enjoy the challenges of treating patients with acute care needs."

A Hospitalist is a medical doctor whose primary professional focus is the medical care of hospitalized patients. Hospitalists are based in the hospital and specialize in all aspects of a patient’s care from admission to discharge. Often, if a patient is under the care of a Hospitalist, they may not have a primary care physician or their primary care physician does not care for patients in a hospital setting.

Because the Hospitalist Team does not maintain a private outside practice, their time is devoted solely to caring for hospitalized patients. If a patient has a primary care physician, the Hospitalist Team will communicate directly with this physician providing routine updates and further recommendations for the patient’s continued recovery.

Dr. Goldstein chose to work at McLeod Dillon for both the high quality medical staff and the gracious patients. "I enjoy being on a small, close knit team of providers that are large enough to meet the needs of the community," said Dr. Goldstein. "As I’ve cared for patients at McLeod Dillon, they have shown so much gratitude and appreciation."

Dr. Goldstein is a member of both the Society of Hospital Medicine and the South Carolina Medical Association.

Highly skilled and compassionate, Dr. Goldstein looks forward to caring for patients in the Dillon community for many years to come.

Dr. Goldstein is a native of Camden, SC, and currently resides in Pawley’s Island, SC. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his three children and wife, Hana.
