USC Business Students Partner with McLeod on Improvement Project

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 10 JANUARY 2024

A USC Darla Moore School of Business Operations and Supply Chain class recently worked on a process improvement project with McLeod Health involving OR supplies as part of an ongoing partnership with the university’s Operations Supply Chain Center. The Fall 2023 students were assigned to work on our Operating Room Critical Supplies Process Improvement project with the McLeod Procurement team. The group presented their final presentation to the McLeod leadership team in December.

“Our partnership with USC provided valuable insight into process improvement, which includes strategies, techniques, design and management,” said Carmen Winfield, McLeod Health Vice President of Supply Chain. “Our team learned how to systematically analyze and improve processes in the OR, but more importantly, how to apply what they learned to any area of supply chain. Working with USC, our team found it exciting to focus on process improvement and finding creative solutions to help them work smarter not harder. Dr. Sanjay Ahire, Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Darla Moore School of Business, also provided us with the tools and an understanding of the concepts to help us implement and sustain process improvements. We look forward to continuing our relationship with USC and hope that their Supply Chain students will find healthcare to be an exciting career.”

The students participating in the process improvement project from USC included Drew Ambrose, Bekah Anderson, Aidan Foster, Juliette Lodge and Cambrie Vergeire.
