Students Donate Art to McLeod Pediatric Associates of Florence

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 20 MAY 2011

(5/20/11) – McLeod Pediatric Associates of Florence received a colorful donation of artwork to their West Florence location. Fifteen National Art Honor Society students at Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology in Darlington, South Carolina, collaboratively created five acrylic-on-canvas works inspired by popular children’s books.

"We are very appreciative for the artwork," remarked pediatrician Dr. Brian Naylor. "It encourages reading and also makes kids excited about art. It is great to have involvement from local students. They did a great job!"

Art teacher Lyn O’Donnell said the students were excited to work on the project, as many remembered the books from their own childhood. Dr. Naylor worked with his family to select the books; they decided on Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault, and illustrated by Lois Ehlert; Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd; Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jerman; Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale by Marcus Pfister, and What a Wonderful World by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele, and illustrated by Ashley Bryan.

McLeod Pediatric Associates of Florence West is located at 3013A West Palmetto Street in Florence, South Carolina, where Dr. Brian Naylor and Dr. Weave Whitehead care for patients. To make an appointment, please call (843) 777 – 7604 for Dr. Naylor, or 777 – 7603 for Dr. Whitehead.
