Ruiz Foods Tours Children’s Hospital

"RuizOn July 14, several members of the Ruiz Foods team toured McLeod Children’s Hospital as part of their introduction to the Florence community. Fred Ruiz, Founder of Ruiz Foods, was in attendance, accompanied by his daughter and Chairman of the Board, Kim Ruiz Beck.

During their visit, the Ruiz team toured the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Child Reach. In addition, Dr. Al Gilpin of McLeod Orthopaedic Associates talked about the passion of physicians and nurses to improve the quality of life of every child treated in the Children’s Hospital.

The Ruiz team also experienced firsthand the miracles that happen in Children’s Hospital as they listened to Landon and Leah Reynolds share the story of their twins, Sullivan and Hallie.

Ashley Costas, McLeod Safe Kids Coordinator, was present to talk about the program’s role in preventing childhood injury in children ages 19 and under.

On July 15, Ruiz Foods held a groundbreaking ceremony at their Florence location, the former Heinz manufacturing facility. During the ceremony, Kim Ruiz Beck presented Rob Colones, President of McLeod Health, with a $10,000 donation to McLeod Children’s Hospital.
