Remembering Legacy Society Members

McLEOD HEALTH FOUNDATION 24 MARCH 2014

"Betty-dwight"The power and impact of a legacy commitment is often realized as well made plans and wishes are fulfilled.

This has become evident as we remember two thoughtful and generous members of the Dr. F. H. McLeod Legacy Society…Betty-Ann Darby and Dwight Jenkinson. While already members of the Society for endowed scholarships, both Betty-Ann and Dwight made the decision to also use their estates to perpetuate the care they valued during their lives.

Upon Betty-Ann’s passing in 2013, the McLeod Foundation was notified that once again Betty-Ann had expressed her devotion to McLeod Health. The McLeod Foundation was included in her will as a partial residual heir. The Darby Family legacy will continue to positively impact the health of our region through Betty-Ann’s thoughtful planning.

As Dwight Jenkinson was fighting his own battle with cancer, he was moved by a story about a cancer patient who was receiving transportation assistance. He took action to specifically request that a portion of his retirement account be used to fund the L.I.F.T. program. His gift is already being used to ensure that patients facing a cancer diagnosis are able to receive their life-saving treatments.
