Philip Verjans, MPT, Named Director of Rehabilitative Services at McLeod Dillon

(8/24/10) – McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce Philip Verjans, MPT, as the Director of Rehabilitative Services. Rehabilitative Services at McLeod Dillon includes Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Verjans, a native of Belgium, is an experienced physical therapist with over twenty years of experience. He has served in various management capacities since 1993. Most recently, Verjans served as the Director for Outpatient, Acute and Transitional Care Unit Therapy Services at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence, SC.

Verjans has a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He has extensive experience in spinal and extremity joint mobilization techniques, as well as shoulder and knee rehabilitation. He is also a course instructor with SC Area Health Education Consortium (AHEC), NC AHEC and the American Physical Therapy Association South Carolina Chapter (APTA). Verjans commented, ‘I look forward to beginning a career with McLeod Health, the leader in health care in the Pee Dee. I am eager to contribute to the overall health and well-being of the residents of Dillon County and the surrounding areas. By helping rehabilitate those recovering from an injury or surgery, they can get back to the things they enjoy in life – families, hobbies, and work.’

Verjans and his wife, Karin, have 2 children, Robin, who is a Doctor in Physical Therapy student at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, and Kristi, who is a Pre-Nursing student at Francis Marion University, Florence. Verjans is a Board Member for the South Carolina Senior Sports Classic. He enjoys shag dancing, reading and playing volleyball, which he played professionally in Europe.
