McLeod Pediatric Subspecialists and McLeod Health Foundation Present Inspirational Program for Children with Diabetes and Their Families

(9/15/10) – McLeod Pediatric Subspecialists and the McLeod Health Foundation are pleased to offer an inspirational program for children with diabetes and their families. Jay Hewitt, a Type 1 diabetes patient, Ironman Triathlete and member of the American Diabetes Association, will present "Finish Line Vision" Thursday, October 21, 4:00 p.m. at the McLeod Health and Fitness Center basketball court. Jay Hewitt was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1991. After being diagnosed, Jay became an elite Ironman triathlete and 3-time member of the U.S. National Team for Long Distance Triathlon. He is the only athlete with Type 1 diabetes ever to qualify for the U.S. National Triathlon Team. Jay has competed in 14 Ironman triathlons, 20 half Ironman triathlons and 8 individual marathons, and is a 3-time finisher of the Boston Marathon.

Jay Hewitt is also the guest speaker for the McLeod Foundation’s "An Evening of Hope", the Eleventh Annual Cancer Benefit Dinner. His presentation, "Overcome Obstacles & Change" will be held that night, Thursday, October 21, at the Country Club of South Carolina.
