Staff members of the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) were recently honored with The DAISY Team Award for McLeod Regional Medical Center.
The MICU Team was nominated by a patient’s daughter and brother.
From the patient’s family: “Natalie was a constant source of comfort and strength for our family, Allison and Clara made our experience manageable through the toughest days, and Abby became part of our family and journey. However, this award is deserving of everyone in the MICU who cared for our father and brother. Our entire family feels that he received the same level of care and compassion from all the techs, nurses, doctors and support staff. They didn’t just take care of the patient; they took care of our entire family.”
The DAISY Team Award is for nurse-led teams of two or more who come together to solve a specific situation by going above and beyond.
The MICU Nursing Team received a certificate which read: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are and the incredibly meaningful difference your teamwork makes in the lives of so many people.” The team also received an engraved plaque with their unit name as well as DAISY Team pins.
