McLeod Loris Seacoast Volunteers Recognized for Dedicated Service

(4/26/2013) The very special volunteers and volunteer chaplains who donate their time and talents to make a difference at McLeod Loris Seacoast were celebrated Tuesday, April 23, during a luncheon at the Center for Health & Fitness in honor of National Volunteer Week.

In 2012, these dedicated volunteers together contributed 11,543 hours of their time to McLeod Loris Seacoast. The Volunteer Services Department consists of more than 120 men and women who work in almost every facet of the organization including the Gift Shop, information desk, transportation, hospitality cart, surgical waiting areas, physical therapy, clerical duties, conducting daily chaplain’s rounds, and much more.

Volunteers play a very important role in helping to provide high quality, cost effective healthcare. They provide a valuable service and are an important part of the McLeod Loris Seacoast team.

About McLeod Loris and McLeod Seacoast                          

Both hospitals provide care for residents of northern Horry and southern Brunswick and Columbus counties. Founded in 1950, McLeod Loris is a fully-accredited acute care facility with 105 licensed beds.  McLeod Seacoast opened in 2000 as an outpatient facility.  In July 2011, McLeod Seacoast began providing inpatient care as a 50-bed hospital. On January 9, 2012, both organizations became part of the McLeod family of quality healthcare facilities.  Other facilities located in Horry County affiliated with McLeod Health are Loris Extended Care Center and the Center for Health and Fitness.
