McLeod Loris Fitness Challenge 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run

McLEOD SEACOAST 3 AUGUST 2016

Over 100 participants filled the streets of Loris, SC participating in the Loris 5K Run/Walk in recognition of the McLeod Health 110 year celebration, on Saturday, April 23, 2016. The races took place at the Center for Health & Fitness, located at 3207 Casey Street, Loris.

The top overall winners in the male division: 1st place – Paul Boyd, 2nd place – Frankie Humphrey, and 3rd place – Robbie McLendon. The top overall
winners in the female division: 1st place – Melissa Whitley, 2nd place – Elizabeth Whitley and daughter Nancy McNight, and 3rd place – Mariah Meredith. Overall prizes valued at $75, $50, and $25 were awarded to the top three overall male and female winners. Medals were awarded for each age division.

“This event offered a great course, with a large turnout,” said Dr. George Protz. “I’ve run in many races, and this is definitely one that needs to continue each year. I’m happy I’ve been a part of it.”

All monies raised from the McLeod Loris Fitness Challenge will go to the Children’s Miracle Network, benefitting Children’s Services at McLeod Loris Seacoast. The McLeod Loris Fitness Challenge is part of the many activities taking place during the Loris Spring Festival & Outdoor Expo. The race technical direction is managed by Simply Timing.

As part of the McLeod Health 110 year celebration, McLeod has expanded its efforts this year into a three race series which includes 5K Run/Walks in Florence and Dillon, SC. The Florence race took place March 19 at Briggs Elementary School. The Dillon race will take place on April 30 at The City of Dillon Wellness Center. All runners who run all 3 races in the series will receive finisher medals that when placed together will form the state of South Carolina.
