McLeod Hospitalist Dr. Christina Andrew Earns Senior Fellow Designation

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 1 FEBRUARY 2019

McLeod Health is pleased to announce that Christina L. Andrew, DO, Medical Director for the Hospitalist Team of McLeod Regional Medical Center, has earned the Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine (SFHM) designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM).

SFHM designees represent hospital medicine’s most experienced leaders – those who earn the SFHM designations have demonstrated a commitment to hospital medicine, system change, and quality improvement principles. To be designated as a Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine, an applicant must:

  • Serve as a hospitalist for at least five years
  • Be a member of SHM for at least five years
  • Demonstrate his or her dedication to quality and process improvement and commitment to organizational teamwork, leadership and lifelong learning

Dr. Andrew joined the medical staff of McLeod Regional Medical Center in 2008. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Andrew received her medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in 2004, and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in 2008. As Medical Director of the Hospitalist Team, she and her inpatient medicine physician colleagues are dedicated to promoting and providing exceptional, efficient, compassionate medical care for hospitalized patients.

Physicians who pursue this designation of Senior Fellow must also have the endorsement of two active Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) members. McLeod Hospitalist Team Leader Dr. Robert Craven endorsed Dr. Andrew for this achievement.

“Dr. Andrew leads by example as a passionate advocate for hospital medicine,” said Dr. Craven. “We are fortunate to have Dr. Andrew continually striving to improve care for our patients.”
