McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 24 JULY 2020

McLeod Health welcomes Rachel A. Fenters, DO, and Akal S. Zeleke, MD, to the medical staff. Drs. Fenters and Zeleke join the Department of Inpatient Medicine at McLeod Regional Medical Center as Hospitalists.

A native of Florence County, Dr. Fenters is no stranger to the staff of McLeod Regional Medical Center. A 2020 graduate of the McLeod Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Fenters received her undergraduate degree from Emmanuel College, and received her medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is passionate about servant leadership and selfless commitment to the care of others, qualities evident in her involvement in her church, participation in medical missions, and volunteer work. She enjoys meeting new people, sampling food from different cultures, and participating in the performing arts.

A familiar face around McLeod Regional Medical Center, Dr. Zeleke is a 2020 graduate of the McLeod Family Medicine Residency Program. She attended the College of Charleston for her undergraduate degree and received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Zeleke shared her gift for education teaching organic and nuclear chemistry as a permanent high school chemistry teacher and tutor for students in need. Dr. Zeleke enjoys spending time with family, exercising, reading mystery and science fiction novels, and acting as an amateur DJ at local house parties.
