McLeod Health welcomes Ben Lukose, MD, and Yuxuan Mao, MD, to the medical staff. 

Dr. Benson Lukose brings his enthusiasm for family medicine to Southern Medical Associates. A graduate of SABA University School of Medicine in the Dutch Caribbean, Dr. Lukose completed his residency at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi. He is passionate about building lasting relationships with patients and positively influencing their health and well-being. “I am thrilled to be joining McLeod Health; the culture here is warm and inviting, and everyone is joyful while fulfilling our mission,” he shared. Dr. Lukose and his wife, Sheena, are the proud parents of their son, Jaxon. Dr. Yuxuan Mao joins McLeod Cardiology Associates on the campus of McLeod Health Seacoast. Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Mao worked as an electrical and computer engineer with IBM, where he helped design the PlayStation 3 and Xbox. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014, completed his Internal Medicine Residency and served as Chief Resident at East Carolina University in 2017, and went on to complete fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Electrophysiology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2023 and 2025. Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine, Dr. Mao specializes in complex rhythm disorders including atrial fibrillation, SVT, VT ablation, conduction system pacing, the WATCHMAN implant, and leadless pacemakers.
