McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLeod Health welcomes Dr. Louise Sutton Boyd, OBGYN, and Dr. Jeffrey J. Dorociak, Gastroenterologist, to McLeod Physician Associates.

Dr. Boyd will be providing obstetric and gynecological care at McLeod Health Cheraw, as well as seeing patients at both McLeod OBGYN Cheraw and McLeod OBGYN Bennettsville. She joins fellow physicians Dr. David Bersinger and Dr. Michael Hoffman in serving the patients of Chesterfield, Marlboro, and surrounding counties.

A native of Sumter, South Carolina, Dr. Boyd brings a varied background to her career in medicine. Prior to her medical training, she pursued a degree in the performing arts, and also served Mercy Ships in medical missions to Liberia. Her desire for serving others led to choosing a career in medicine, and ultimately to her choice of women’s health. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 2012. In 2016, Dr. Boyd completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University Residency Program.

“I have a passion for women’s health,” said Dr. Boyd. “Being able to make a difference in the lives of women of all ages is a privilege and responsibility. I look forward to being a part of McLeod, the Cheraw and Bennettsville communities, and creating positive relationships with the women who entrust me with their care.”

Dr. Dorociak joins Dr. Timothy Spurling in practice at Florence Gastroenterology Associates. A board certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Dorociak comes to Florence having more than 20 years of experience providing care to patients with conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. Prior to joining McLeod, Dr. Dorociak served on the medical staffs of Roper-St. Francis and Bon Secours-St. Francis Medical Centers in Charleston, South Carolina. In private practice, Dr. Dorociak provided care as part of Palmetto Digestive Disease, Palmetto Endoscopy Center, and Tides Gastroenterology.

No stranger to Florence, Dr. Dorociak attended Francis Marion College before pursuing a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Teaching Exercise Physiology at the University of South Carolina, followed by earning a PhD in Exercise Physiology Measurements and Evaluation from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Dorociak received his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1988, where he also completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 1991. In 1993, he completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology from Bowman-Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University and North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. An avid long distance runner and saxophone player, Dr. Dorociak and his wife, Tammy, enjoy eight children and five grandchildren.
