McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLeod Health welcomes new physicians Dr. Valarian Bruce and Dr. Deborah Kirby.

Dr. Bruce joins McLeod Occupational Health as a full-time staff physician. Dr. Bruce has served as a full-time physician with McLeod Family Medicine West and also a part-time physician for Occupational Health since 2014 to assist with DOT physicals and treating work-related injuries/ illnesses. He also currently serves as a Physician at McLeod Urgent Care.

Dr. Bruce is a 2011 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, and the 2014 Class of the McLeod Family Medicine Residency Program.

In his new role at McLeod Occupational Health, Dr. Bruce will see patients in the McLeod Occupational Health medical clinic, providing injury treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses. He will also provide pre-employment physicals, return-to-work physicals, fit for duty exams, pulmonary function testing, respiratory testing, and DOT physicals. Professional Affiliations include the American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association, American Association of Family Practitioners, and American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Dr. Kirby joins fellow neurologists Dr. Roland Skinner and Dr. Krishna Murthy as part of McLeod Neurological Associates. Dr. Kirby comes to McLeod from private practice with Cornerstone Neurology of High Point, North Carolina.

Dr. Kirby received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2003. She completed her Neurology Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2007, and her Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 2008. Dr. Kirby holds Board Certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties in Neuroimaging.

As a neurologist, Dr. Kirby provides care for post-stroke management, stroke prevention, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disorders, and neurological complications of other illnesses. Dr. Kirby completed a Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology with emphasis in electromyography and neuromuscular disorders. Areas of expertise and interest include headaches, neuromuscular disease, and Botox® procedures for treatment of migraines, cervical dystonia spasticity, and other conditions.
