McLeod Health welcomes new physicians Dr. Carmen A. Taype-Roberts and Dr. Salvatore Zieno.

Carmen A.Taype-Roberts, MD, PhD, FACP, joins Pulmonologists Dr. Vinod Jona and Dr. John Atkins as part of McLeod Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates. A native of Peru, Dr. Taype-Roberts comes to McLeod from Southern California where she served on the medical staffs of Scripps Mercy Hospital and Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center of Chula Vista, California. Dr. Taype also served on the faculty of the University of California, San Diego and has extensive research experience and multiple publications in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Pulmonary Diseases.

Dr. Taype-Roberts received her Medical Degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru in 2001, and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Bronx, New York, in 2011. She completed her Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, California in 2014. In addition to her medical degree, Dr. Taype-Roberts holds a PhD in Human Genetics from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom and is bi-lingual in Spanish and English.

Board certified in Pulmonary and Internal Medicine, Dr. Taype provides the best in treatment to patients with multiple lung conditions including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, sarcoidosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, chronic lung infections, respiratory failure, and lung cancer. Salvatore Zieno, MD, welcomes new patients at the newly formed practice McLeod ENT Seacoast located at McLeod Seacoast in Little River, SC.

Board certified in Otolaryngology, Facial Plastics and Medical Management, Dr. Zieno has more than 25 years of medical experience he now offers to the area. This experience stems from time in the Air Force and in a private practice in Nebraska.

Dr. Zieno received his medical degree from the Georgetown School of Medicine in 1979. He completed his Surgery Internship at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center of Dayton, Ohio. He also completed a Surgery Internship and Otolaryngology Residency training at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
