McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLeod Health welcomes Dr. Stuart Sandler and Dr. Thomas V. DiStefano to the medical staff.

Dr. Sandler is the Medical Director of McLeod Occupational Health. In this role, Dr. Sandler oversees operations of the McLeod Employee and Occupational Health clinics system-wide.

Dr. Sandler received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, North Miami Beach, Florida in 1986, followed by a Residency in Family Medicine at SunCoast Hospital, Largo, Florida in 1989. After starting his career in Family Medicine, he discovered his love for Occupational Health in 1995. Since then, he has worked in the field for Medical Clinics, Hospitals, and Managed Care facilities. Dr. Sandler is a certified Medical Review Officer and DOT Examiner. Professional affiliations include the American Osteopathic Association, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and American Association of Medical Review Officers.

Dr. Sandler and his spouse, Monte, are the proud owners of Brussels Griffon dogs and enjoy showing them at dog shows around the country. Dr. DiStefano, an Orthopedic Surgeon, has joined the Medical Staff of McLeod Health Cheraw and McLeod Physician Associates. Dr. DiStefano will care for patients at McLeod Orthopaedics Cheraw. He comes to McLeod from Missouri, where he served as orthopedic surgeon and Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at SSM Health St. Francis Hospital-Maryville. He also served as the primary team physician and surgeon for Northwest Missouri State University for 18 years.

Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. DiStefano received his medical degree from Tulane University Medical School, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1993. He completed an internship in General Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia in 1994, followed by his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery in 1998. He completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine at Tulane in 1999.

Dr. DiStefano specializes in sports medicine, the treatment of all shoulder and knee conditions and all basic orthopedic care. “I enjoy the weather and camaraderie of Cheraw and am looking forward to creating relationships with my patients,” said Dr. DiStefano.
