Hospital Represents Expansion of Inpatient Acute Care to One of the Fastest Growing Communities in South Carolina

McLeod Health welcomed area leaders, healthcare providers, community partners and members of the public to a ribbon cutting and open house celebrating the McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital on August 27. The event offered an early look inside the new hospital ahead of its scheduled opening this fall.

The unveiling of the $90 million, four-story, 48-bed hospital marks another milestone in McLeod Health’s commitment to expanding access to care throughout the Grand Strand and meeting the needs of one of the fastest growing communities in South Carolina. Years in the making, the McLeod Carolina Forest Hospital is part of a campus that began development in 2016 and is the first inpatient hospital serving the Carolina Forest community. It is also the first new hospital built in Horry County since McLeod Health Seacoast opened in 2011.

Donna Isgett, President and CEO of McLeod Health, shared, “For many residents, this hospital represents something they have long hoped to see in their community. It means greater access to care, peace of mind for families, and the confidence that exceptional healthcare is available close to home. Today marks far more than the opening of a new hospital. It symbolizes a promise fulfilled by McLeod Health to the people of Carolina Forest and Horry County that we listened, invested, and responded.”

“This is an exciting day for McLeod Health and for the Carolina Forest community,” added McLeod Health Carolina Forest CEO Scott Montgomery. “Our community has asked for greater access to healthcare services and today we are pleased to deliver on that vision. This hospital brings advanced healthcare services, innovative technology, and compassionate caregivers together in a setting designed specifically for the people who live and work here.”

During the open house, visitors had an opportunity to tour the new facility and see firsthand how the hospital was designed to serve the healthcare needs of this growing community. The hospital will offer Inpatient Care; 24/7 Emergency Services; Radiology Services, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, 3D mammography, nuclear medicine, echocardiogram, fluoroscopy, vascular services and bone density testing; Laboratory Services; Surgical Services; and Rehabilitation Services, including physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and pediatric therapy.

With the hospital scheduled to open in the coming weeks, McLeod Health looks forward to welcoming patients and families to a new era in healthcare centered around the community it serves.
