McLeod Health Loris Fulfilling Promise of Growth

McLEOD HEALTH LORIS 5 NOVEMBER 2020

As the leader of healthcare in the community, McLeod Health Loris continues to fulfill its mission to improve the health and well-being of the residents in Loris and surrounding communities.

Numerous projects are underway to renovate and modernize areas within the facility.  The radiology department anticipates a new 3D mammography unit operational by the end of 2020. This new unit performs Tomosynthesis screenings, which allow for more efficient and accurate mammograms.

The operating room is investing in new laparoscopic equipment and instrumentation used in many of the surgical procedures used in urological and endoscopy procedures.

Additional infrastructure projects underway include upgraded patient and visitor elevators and a new chilled water plant. A chilled water plant is an automatic HVAC system that controls cooling and humidification of the facility. This multi-million-dollar investment will upgrade the internal controls and make the hospital more energy efficient.

Two physician practices will benefit as well. Dr. David Bjerken, vascular surgeon with the McLeod Health Loris Dialysis Access Center and Dr. Glenn Gangi, urologist with Atlantic Urology Clinics will have a new clinic space located across from the Center of Health & Fitness. This new medical office building is scheduled to be completed in Spring of 2021. Until then, these physicians are seeing patients temporarily in these locations until their new facility is constructed:

Dr. David Bjerken – 3617 Casey St., Suite C, Loris, SC
Atlantic Urology Clinics – 3617 Casey St., Suite B, Loris, SC

These projects continue McLeod Health’s commitment to bring quality healthcare to Loris and all communities from the midlands to the coast.
