McLeod Health recently recognized four exceptional individuals with the inaugural McLeod Health President’s Award during a special ceremony celebrating their leadership, service, and lasting contributions to the organization.

Established by Donna Isgett, President and CEO of McLeod Health, the President’s Award recognizes individuals whose leadership, service, vision, and commitment have significantly advanced the mission of McLeod Health. The award is intended to be among the highest honor bestowed by the organization and establishes a new tradition of recognizing individuals whose extraordinary service and contributions create a lasting impact on McLeod Health and the communities it serves.

The inaugural recipients are Dr. C. Richard Alexander, Jr.; Frank V. Boulineau, III; Sherron Brown; and Adele Hewitt, RN. Each represents a different area of service, but all have made a lasting impact on McLeod Health, its patients, employees, and communities.

“In this our 120th Anniversary year at McLeod Health, it is indeed my great honor to present the inaugural McLeod Health President’s Award,” said Isgett. “Every day, there are people within McLeod Health who quietly make a difference. They lift up those around them, guide others through challenges, and dedicate themselves to improving the lives of our patients and communities. Their impact is measured not only in achievements, but in the relationships they build, the lives they touch, and the legacy they leave behind.”

Dr. C. Richard Alexander, Jr.

Dr. Alexander was part of the first physician group hired and employed by McLeod Health, helping shape McLeod Physician Associates and the organization’s transition to an employed physician model. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his clinical excellence, willingness to teach and mentor others, and commitment to improving care and workflows.

His impact extends to his patients; many of whom continued to share stories of the difference he made in their lives even after he moved to another office. His career reflects the combination of clinical excellence, compassion, mentorship, and service that defines the President’s Award.

Frank V. Boulineau, III

Boulineau has served on the McLeod Health Board of Trustees since 2012, representing the coastal communities with distinction. As a board member and trusted advisor, he has provided thoughtful leadership during significant periods of growth and helped champion initiatives that have strengthened healthcare access and services along the Coast.

His leadership is characterized by thoughtful consideration, integrity, and a commitment to the long-term success of McLeod Health and the communities it serves.

Sherron Brown

Brown is recognized for more than 30 years of service to McLeod Health, primarily in Environmental Services in the Emergency Department. Her impact extends far beyond her job responsibilities. She has mentored new employees, supported patients and colleagues, and consistently demonstrated kindness, respect, and a willingness to help others.

Her career is a reminder that every role contributes to exceptional healthcare and that how we serve others can be just as meaningful as what we do.

Adele Hewitt, RN

Hewitt is recognized for more than four decades of service and her foundational contributions to oncology care at McLeod Health. In 1981, she became the first McLeod nurse trained in plasmapheresis and played an important role in launching the program.

Throughout her career, she helped develop chemotherapy protocols, mentored generations of nurses, and provided compassionate care to patients and families facing cancer. Even in retirement, she continues to serve as a volunteer in the cancer center.

Her legacy can be seen in the programs she helped establish, the caregivers she mentored, and the patients she touched throughout her career.

“Tonight, we recognize four individuals who have traveled different paths, served in different roles, and touched different lives,” said Isgett. “Yet they share something powerful in common. They chose, day after day, to bring their best to the people who depended on them.

“Their example reminds us that excellence is rarely found in a single achievement. It is found in thousands of moments of compassion, leadership, and service. That spirit has shaped McLeod Health for 120 years, and it will carry us into the future.”
