McLeod Educates Women on Heart Disease

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 22 FEBRUARY 2019

February is known nationwide as Heart Month. At McLeod Health, this year’s promotions are focused on educating women on heart disease, the risk factors, and recognizing the signs of a heart attack. These efforts are being communicated through the use of print ads, television advertising, physician articles, patient testimonials and educational community events.

The heart and stroke patient testimonials feature five McLeod female patients. These are stories of real patients who have experienced victorious outcomes including Florence resident Pam Palmer – Stroke Survivor.

When Pam fell off a ladder working at her home in Florence her first thought wasn’t stroke. But later, when she experienced numbness in her left hand, knowing that numbness on one side of the body was a sign of a stroke, she expressed her suspicions to her husband.

“He didn’t think I had a stroke because I could speak clearly,” said Palmer. “We thought I was ok to wait to seek care.” Click here to watch Pam’s story.
