McLeod Children’s Hospital Hosts Pediatric Symposium

McLeod Children’s Hospital and Pee Dee AHEC recently hosted the fifth annual McLeod Pediatric Symposium on July 18. Approximately 40 people attended the event.

Attendees represented McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Family Medicine Center, McLeod Air Reach, Newberry County School District, Richland County School District, and the Sandhill Medical Foundation.

Presentations were made by: Dr. Carl Chelen with McLeod Children’s Hospital on “Acid-Base Disorders in Children;” Natalie Gamble and Danielle Williams, Substance Abuse Disorder Counselors with HopeHealth, on “Adolescent Substance Abuse Trends;” Dr. Sherron Jackson with the Medical University of South Carolina on “Sickle Cell Anemia;” Dr. Thomas Bannister with McLeod Children’s Hospital on “Fluid Resuscitation in Pediatric Trauma;” and Dr. D’Michelle DuPre with Columbia College on “Recognizing Subtle Signs of Child Abuse”
