The McLeod Health Foundation received a major gift of $100,000 to the Healing and Hope Capital Campaign for the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research at Seacoast from Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union in Myrtle Beach, SC. This generous commitment represents the largest gift to the campaign thus far.
“McLeod Health and Carolina Trust have common values — we are both non-profits and we put people ahead of profits,” explains Tim Carlisle, CEO/President of Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union. “We are about relationships, which is why it is so important to me and why we partner together.”
Tim helped guide this significant campaign commitment after he had his world rocked this past May. Doctors diagnosed Pam, his beloved wife of 34 years, with breast cancer. “It is a scary journey and you do not know where to turn because time is not on your side,” Tim reflected. “You focus on getting to the right people, which is a complicated process.”
Tim and Pam’s journey demonstrated the importance of having a comprehensive cancer center close to home. Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union joined the campaign to make this possible.
“It is encouraging to see the community rally around this important campaign,” shares Christina Jackson, McLeod Health Foundation Director. “In the first eight months of the campaign, more than $800,000 has already been committed.”
