Jimmi L. Jones joins McLeod Medical Center Dillon Hospitalist Team

McLEOD DILLION 20 APRIL 2015

McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce that Jimmi L. Jones, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, has joined the McLeod Dillon Hospitalist team.

The hospitalist team at McLeod Dillon is made up of medical doctors and nurse practitioners whose primary professional focus is the medical care of hospitalized patients. Hospitalists are based in the hospital and specialize in all aspects of a patient’s care – from admission to discharge. Because they do not maintain a private outside practice, the time of the hospitalist team is devoted solely to caring for hospitalized patients.

"I wanted to continue to grow in my profession so I chose to become a nurse practitioner. In this advanced nursing role, I am proud that I have the opportunity to provide high-quality healthcare services to residents in and around my community, many that are disadvantaged," said Jimmi.

A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed specific advanced education and training in the diagnosis and management of medical conditions. Nurse Practitioners diagnose, treat, evaluate and manage short-term and long-term illnesses and diseases.

Jimmi is looking forward to serving Dillon County and the surrounding areas. "Growing up, I spent a great deal of time watching my mom, Pat Jones, RN, in her work as a nurse. She motivated me to choose a career in health care," said Jimmi. "I also chose the medical field because the science behind how the body works fascinates me."

Jimmi completed part of her clinical training at McLeod Dillon. "During that time, I was accepted by patients and staff as family," said Jimmi. "My mom is also a nursing director at the McLeod Dillon. I have a true understanding from her of the high quality care McLeod provides, and I knew working with this organization would fit with my personal goal to perpetuate that same high level of care and compassion in my work."

"As a nurse practitioner, I hope to foster a collaborative approach to patient care with my health care team and to make a difference in both the lives of my patients and their families," said Jimmi.

Jimmi is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) at Francis Marion University, Florence, SC.

Jimmi is a native of Marion County, SC, and currently resides in Mullins, SC. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to church, relaxing, shopping, and learning new things.
