(2/14/2014)   Thanks to the support and generosity of our local community, the McLeod Health Foundation, supporting McLeod Loris Seacoast, has granted $107,286 to McLeod Loris Seacoast for pediatric rehabilitation and labor and delivery.

The money to enhance these areas was made possible by the proceeds from the 2013 Annual Foundation Ball and from the fundraising efforts of Boulineau’s IGA and Ace True Value Hardware store during the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital fundraisers last summer.

Enhancements to the pediatric rehabilitation program will directly benefit children treated at McLeod Loris and McLeod Seacoast which are a part of McLeod Children’s Hospital. These donations will help provide specialized programs, equipment and services needed in the treatment of children. Programs that will be purchased include:

·       Fast Forward

·       Therapeutic Listening

·       Beckman Oral Motor

·       Handwriting Without Tears

·       Talk Tools

·       FastforWard

·       Kaufman Protocol

·       Sensory Integration

Adaptive age appropriate training equipment will be purchased for pediatric therapy. Items to be purchased include:

·       Moonwalker

·       Elliptical

·       Exercise Bike

·       Stepper

Also made possible by the foundation, plans are being made to renovate and remodel the Labor and Delivery department at McLeod Loris. The enhancements will include the lobby and nursery, as well as purchase new furniture for 10 patient rooms.  

 

 "Without the support of our community donors, employees and volunteers, none of this would be possible," said Kelly Hughes, Director of the McLeod Health Foundation at McLeod Loris Seacoast. "Their generous donations allow the Foundation to continue to grow and be able to fund these and other items that will benefit our patients and their families for years to come."
