(6/29/12) – The Loris Seacoast Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce the 2012 recipients of the Sylvia Kitchen Memorial Nursing Scholarship.

During a dinner recently held in honor of the recipients, the Board of Directors for Loris Seacoast Healthcare Foundation awarded Jared Anderson, Ashley Corder, Aubrie Gore, Alston James, Brittany Padgett and Brandi Wilson scholarships to be used to further pursue their interest in a nursing career.

The scholarship fund was established in memory of Sylvia Kitchen, former vice president of nursing. Mrs. Kitchen exemplified the meaning of nurse in her 12-year tenure at Loris Community Hospital. She encouraged young men and women to pursue this honorable career of caring for others.

The Loris Seacoast Healthcare Foundation is committed to providing the philanthropic means for programs, such as the Sylvia Kitchen Memorial Nursing Scholarship program, for McLeod Loris Seacoast.  An annual golf tournament was held in April to raise money for the scholarship program.
