Fit Club Attracting Area Residents to NMB Park and Sports Complex

(5/16/2014)  Open to the public for just a month, area residents have already been enjoying the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex and what it has to offer. With May being National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, McLeod Seacoast and the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center partnered to offer area residents the opportunity to participate in Fit Club, a free health and fitness program, at the new facility. 

Held each Tuesday, the sessions are open to anyone 13 years and older and feature a speaker from McLeod Seacoast, a 30 minute workout with a certified fitness instructor from North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center, and an optional free medical screening and one-on-one nutrition counseling with a registered dietician.

Each class has welcomed around 20 people who have participated in Zumba, Boot Camp/Cross Training, free lung capacity and balance screenings, and more.

"I love that McLeod Seacoast is helping the community get physically fit at no cost. They are combining education and physical activities to help you make lifestyle changes no matter what fitness level you are on," said Jaclyn Wilson, Fit Club participant. "Boot Camp really challenged me and showed me what I was physically capable of and I enjoyed exercising with a motivated group."

Make plans to attend the last Fit Club session scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Dr. David Lukowski of McLeod Orthopedics Seacoast will be discussing joint movement. Attendees will be able to participate in cardio kickboxing and joint movement screenings. A registered dietician will be on hand to discuss nutritional information.
