(10/08/12) – Legacy Gifts Support Health Care for the Future
Why You Should Consider the McLeod Cancer Center in Your Estate Planning
By Dr. Michael Pavy

Every day at McLeod Regional Medical Center, cancer patients benefit from the combined knowledge and experience of a team of physicians and staff members who are dedicated to providing care that includes innovative treatments and therapies. The resources needed for this advanced level of care are available because of the continued commitment of McLeod Health and the support and encouragement of the communities we serve.

With the opening of the new McLeod Cancer Center in 2013, our region will have a center of excellence that will provide physical comfort and convenience as well as expanded scientific and intellectual components.

My wife, Joan, and I have been involved with the evolution of cancer care at McLeod for more than 30 years. The progress made has been monumental and has resulted in our desire to give back to the institution and the patients we serve by supporting the new McLeod Cancer Center.

We were pleased to learn how we could use an estate gift to make a larger commitment than would have otherwise been possible. It is fulfilling for us to know this commitment will be recognized in the new Joan and Michael Pavy Healing Garden, which will offer a peaceful, soothing environment to cancer patients undergoing their treatments.

I am encouraged in our efforts, as patients, their families and all those in our community touched by cancer have generously given to the McLeod Health Foundation. Their gifts support prevention, early detection and the latest technology, ensuring care for all who need it now and in the future.

I ask you to consider how you, too, can join these efforts in a significant way by including the McLeod Cancer Center as a beneficiary of an estate gift. Reflect upon your own personal connection to this cause. Your gift could make an immediate impact to help fund new quipment, patient comfort initiatives, diagnostic technologies and care for those with few resources.

A legacy gift does not have to be complicated. The staff of the McLeod Health Foundation can help you, like they helped Joan and me, achieve your highest charitable goals and touch lives for generations to come.
