McLeod Sports Medicine and its Community Outreach

Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are allied health professionals who are experts, particularly in the orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disciplines, in:

  • Injury Prevention
  • Assessment
  • Treatment
  • Rehabilitation

ATCs are also involved in health care administration, nutrition, biomechanics, education, counselling, physiology, psychology, and conditioning to enhance athletic performance. The ATC works to prevent athletic injuries and cares for the athlete if injuries occur. McLeod Sports Medicine currently provides athletic training coverage to fifteen area public schools, six private schools, two colleges, one summer-league baseball team, and injury clinics at two fitness centers. Our recent expansion this past summer includes full time coverage at Johnsonville High School, Cheraw High School, and Marlboro High School along with part time coverage at Robert E. Lee Academy. Just this fall, we also added injury clinics available once a week at Chesterfield High School and Hannah-Pamplico High School.
McLeod Sports Medicine continues to provide Fall Saturday Morning Injury Clinics that are available to all high school athletes throughout the region. This clinic is available at no charge. It is provided through the help of McLeod Sports Medicine, McLeod Orthopaedics, and Pee Dee Orthopaedic Associates.

McLeod Sports Medicine also offers several Sports Performance programs to prevent injury and improve performance.
