(October 30, 2026 – Myrtle Beach, SC) McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital is now open to patients, marking a major step forward in expanding access to hospital-based care for residents of Carolina Forest, Horry County and the surrounding Grand Strand communities.
This four-story hospital features 48 beds and brings a broad range of medical services, advanced diagnostic technology and specialized care to one of the region’s rapidly growing areas. Its opening reflects McLeod Health’s continued investment in meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the communities it serves.
The hospital is the culmination of a vision first established in 2016 to expand healthcare services in Carolina Forest. It is the first new hospital built in Horry County since McLeod Health Seacoast opened in 2011.
Patients now have access to a range of services at McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital, including inpatient care, 24-hour emergency services, surgical services, laboratory testing and rehabilitation. Diagnostic and imaging capabilities include X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, 3D mammography, nuclear medicine, echocardiograms, fluoroscopy, vascular services and bone density testing.
Rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and pediatric therapy, providing patients with additional resources to support recovery and improve function.
The hospital was developed to make high-quality healthcare more accessible to local residents, helping patients receive the services needed closer to home and remain connected to their families and support networks throughout their care.
“I hope the people of Horry County understand that McLeod Health is committed to this region,” said Donna Isgett, President and CEO of McLeod Health. “From McLeod Loris to McLeod Seacoast, our brand-new Center for Cancer Treatment and Research and now to the expansion of the campus at McLeod Carolina Forest, what we are saying is – we are here for you. We want to make sure you have excellent healthcare close to home.”
“The opening of McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital is a defining moment for healthcare in this community. With this facility, we are bringing essential hospital care, 24/7 emergency services, surgical capabilities and advanced diagnostic technology to a growing region that needs expanded access to these services. Our responsibility extends beyond the walls of this building. We are here to care for patients when they need us most, support families through critical moments and help ensure residents have the hospital resources necessary to meet their needs today and into the future. We are proud to serve this community and look forward to the difference this hospital will make in the lives of our patients and their families,” said Scott Montgomery, CEO of McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital.
As Carolina Forest and the surrounding communities continue to grow, McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital adds important capacity to the region’s healthcare network. Its opening builds on McLeod Health’s longstanding commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care and strengthening access to essential medical services across the Grand Strand.
With patients now being welcomed, McLeod Health Carolina Forest Hospital begins its next chapter: serving individuals and families with compassionate care, modern medical resources and a continued focus on the health of the community.
