McLeod Heart Teams Honored

Dr. Alan Blaker and Amanda Butler recognize the Cardiac Catheterization Lab Team on November 14. The team was one of seven departments honored for the care of heart attack patients.

On Thursday, November 14, 2019, Dr. Alan Blaker, Executive Medical Director of the McLeod Heart and Vascular Institute, and Amanda Butler, McLeod Vice President of the McLeod Heart and Vascular Institute, delivered accolades to the areas at McLeod Regional Medical Center responsible for the care of heart attack patients.

The morning involved a celebration of the reaccreditation of the McLeod Chest Pain Center and the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain  ̶  MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2019. McLeod Regional Medical Center is one of only 225 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor of the Platinum Award.

“Hospitals that are Chest Pain-accredited emphasize the importance of standardized diagnostic studies, effective evaluations and rapid treatment for all patients with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms,” said Dr. Blaker. “As a Platinum Performance Award recipient, McLeod has also demonstrated ourselves as leaders in setting the national standard for improving quality of care in heart attack patients.”

The areas that were recognized during the celebration include: Third Floor Observation Unit, Sixth Floor Cardiothoracic/Vascular, Fifth Floor Cardiology. Heart & Vascular Institute, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Coronary Care Unit, and the Emergency Department.
