McLeod Health Cheraw has begun construction on a state-of-the-art expansion to its facility. A Sneak Peek event was held on Friday, January 30, 2026, to offer attendees a first look at the multi-million dollar investment for the community.
McLeod Health Cheraw CEO Bren Lowe welcomed attendees, calling the day “a defining moment for the hospital and the community – one that turned the many months of planning into a tangible investment in the future of healthcare.”
Ronald Fowler, Chair of the McLeod Health Board of Trustees, also addressed the attendees. “This expansion is a deep commitment to the health and well-being of the community, and one that is being built to meet today’s healthcare needs.”
McLeod Health President and CEO Donna Isgett gave closing remarks. “This event represents more than the start of construction, she said. “It represents listening — to a community that asked for better access, to caregivers who asked for the right space to do their best work, and to families who deserve care that is close to home, compassionate, and reliable.
“Thank you for trusting McLeod Health, and for helping us build a healthier future,” added Isgett.
Following the remarks, Isgett was joined by Lowe, Dr. Gabe Simpson, Fowler and a representative from Vannoy Construction for the unveiling of a rendering of the new facility.
The 35-bed expansion will house six ICU beds, two dedicated inpatient hospice beds, a new MRI suite, new Operating Room suite, and a new women’s center for diagnostics. Construction is expected to last 18 to 24 months.
