Nina Annas Lee Scholarship Awarded to Reeanna Henderson, RN

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 31 OCTOBER 2011

(10/31/11) – Reeanna Henderson, RN, Director of the Hospitalist Program at McLeod Medical Center Dillon, is the recent recipient of the Nina Annas Lee Scholarship. Reeanna is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC, and expects to graduate in December 2012. She has chosen the nursing career because nursing as a profession allows the unique opportunity to make a difference and to have an impact on the health and well-being in the lives of patients, families and communities on an everyday basis. When she learned about receiving the award, she said, "I want to be the nurse that is dedicated to the service of people in my community by providing excellent care while placing the patient in the center of care, working with other healthcare professionals to ensure the outcomes of care are the best possible for every patient seen."

Several years ago, Bill Lee, Hamer, SC, established this scholarship at McLeod Medical Center Dillon through the McLeod Health Foundation in memory of his beloved wife, Nina. Lee is an adult volunteer and a hospital Auxiliary member for McLeod Medical Center Dillon. He is affectionately called "Mr. Bill" by patients and staff, too. He said, "I am extremely pleased with the thorough process used to select the recipient. I am impressed with the quality of this year’s applicants. Reeanna has impressive credentials and a remarkable background. Her commitment to healthcare speaks volumes to her character. She could elect to work for any hospital, anywhere, but she has chosen McLeod Medical Center Dillon. I am delighted this scholarship is available to help her pursue her Bachelor of Nursing degree."

Henderson began working at McLeod Dillon as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 2002. She became the Utilization Review Coordinator in 2003 and was hired as the Clinical Effectiveness Coordinator in 2008. Henderson graduated from Northeastern Tech where she received an Associates Degree in Nursing in May, 2010. She passed her nursing board examination in May, 2010.

Henderson is a native of Dillon. She and her husband, Chad, have two sons, Noah and Eli. Henderson is a member of East Dillon Baptist Church in Dillon. She is also a 2011 graduate of Palmetto Leadership Dillon County.
