McLeod Sports Medicine has awarded the Geoffrey Kier Memorial Athletic Excellence Scholarships to four local athletes. The scholarship recipients were recognized at the annual McLeod Sports Medicine 5K and 10K Run/Walk held Saturday, March 15, 3014. The athletes receiving the scholarships are: Mallory Edwards, Anna Van Baaren, Elizabeth Jackson and Taylor Gray.  

Mallory Edwards is a senior at Florence Christian Schools where she is a member of the volleyball team. She plans to attend Greenville Technical College and major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Mallory is the daughter of Greg and Mindy Edwards of Darlington, SC.  

Anna Van Baaren is a senior at The King’s Academy where she is a member of the basketball and soccer teams. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina and major in Business Management. Anna is the daughter of Rosalyn and Hans Van Baaren of Florence, SC.

Elizabeth Jackson is a senior at The King’s Academy where she is a member of the soccer and cheerleading teams. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina and major in Nursing. Elizabeth is the daughter of Wick and Cindy Jackson of Florence, SC.

Taylor Gray is a senior at South Florence High School where she is a member of the cross country and cheerleading teams. She plans to attend Francis Marion University and major in biochemistry/pre-pharmacy. Taylor is the daughter of Kenny and Dawn Gray of Florence, SC.

Sponsored by McLeod Sports Medicine, the Geoffrey Kier Memorial Athletic Excellence Scholarship recognizes student athletes who personify excellence. The athletes chosen exhibit excellence in academics, athletics, and also possess strong leadership skills. The scholarship is awarded annually to college-bound high school seniors. The athletes are selected from participating area public and private high schools.
