McLeod Social Worker Receives Pee Dee Perinatal Award

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 10 OCTOBER 2012

(10/10/12) – On October 1, 2012, Janice Norris, LBSW, received the 2012 Pee Dee Perinatal Award during the South Carolina Perinatal Association (SCPA) Business Luncheon, held in Myrtle Beach. Norris is the Social Worker for the McLeod Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Perinatal Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

This award is given annually to a person in each perinatal region throughout South Carolina who exhibits diligence and concern on behalf of mothers and babies.

"It is truly an honor for Janice to receive this award," explains Jeannie Beshere, Regional Systems Developer for McLeod Regional Medical Center. "Her ability to realistically address sensitive issues with compassion and wisdom demonstrates her devotion to this profession."

For twenty years, Norris has been connecting families to the outreach community and helping them transition from the NICU and PICU.

"She is an outstanding employee," added Cassandra Brunson, Director of Discharge Planning for McLeod.

Established in 1977, the South Carolina Perinatal Association strives to improve the health of pregnant women, infants, and children through educational activities and collaboration and advocacy with public policy makers. SCPA has a long history of successful partnerships with many organizations on the local, state and national levels that have resulted in positive improvements for women and children in South Carolina.
