Dr. Brian Blaker talks with Ken Ard by skype about the TAVR procedure.

McLeod Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Brian Blaker and McLeod Radiologist Dr. Shawn Conwell were guests on the Live 95 “Wake Up Carolina” radio show hosted by Ken Ard on Thursday, October 24.

Dr. Blaker discussed the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure with Ard. TAVR, offered at McLeod Regional Medical Center, allows physicians to replace a patient’s diseased or damaged heart valve without removing the old valve. The McLeod Valve Clinic Team has performed more than 125 procedures since they began this program in 2017.

Ard also interviewed Dr. Conwell, Medical Director of McLeod Breast Imaging, about the importance of early detection in the diagnosis of breast cancer. Dr. Conwell explained how 3D mammography has greatly improved outcomes by detecting breast cancer at earlier stages.
