McLeod Offers Monthly Diabetes Foot Clinic

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 15 MARCH 2013

The McLeod Diabetes Center and the McLeod Outpatient Wound Center are now offering a monthly diabetes foot clinic on the second Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McLeod Medical Plaza, 800 E. Cheves Street, Florence. To prevent diabetes complications it is important for patients to have regular foot screenings and examinations.

The American Diabetes Association estimates that one in five people with diabetes are hospitalized because of foot problems. These individuals are at higher risk for foot ulcers and infections because diabetes can damage the nerves and blood flow to the feet. In addition, patients who have a foot ulcer are 85 percent more likely to have a leg or foot amputated.

The McLeod Diabetes Foot Clinic is free, but scheduled appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, please call (843) 777-2005.
