McLeod Loris Seacoast Now Offering Industrial Rehabilitation

McLEOD LORIS 21 MARCH 2014

(2/7/2014)   McLeod Loris Seacoast is pleased to announce the addition of Industrial Rehabilitation to the wide range of specialized rehabilitative services currently available to patients.

The overall health of a business is affected by lost time and lost productivity due to an illness or injury. Industrial Rehabilitation is designed to meet the needs of both recovering workers and their employers by specializing in the rehabilitation of injured workers.

"Our team of highly trained, dedicated therapists evaluate and treat injured workers in an effort to help them return to work as quickly and safely as possible," said Scott Montgomery, Director of Rehabilitative Services for McLeod Loris Seacoast. "Injured workers are assessed and an individualized treatment plan is developed based on the specific needs of the patient."

A functional capacity evaluation (FCE) is conducted for each patient and includes the medical and injury history of the patient, a musculoskeletal assessment and functional testing. Functional tests may include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, as well as tests for bending, reaching climbing, crawling, kneeling, squatting and balancing. The results of these tests allow the therapists to determine the injured worker’s rehabilitation needs and develop a specialized regimen.

After the physical rehabilitation process is complete, therapists work with the patient to prepare for their return to the work place. An increased emphasis is placed on real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral and vocational functions. Physicians, rehabilitation professionals and case managers work together throughout the rehabilitation process to assist the worker in safely returning to work.
