(4/19/2013) Those very special people who share their time and talents to make a difference in the community will be honored, along with other volunteers across the country, during National Volunteer Week, April 21-27. McLeod Loris Seacoast recognizes their volunteers and volunteer chaplains with an annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.
The Volunteer Services Department at McLeod Loris Seacoast consists of more than men and women who work in almost every facet of the organization the Gift Shop, information desk, transportation, hospitality cart, surgical waiting areas, physical therapy, clerical duties, conducting daily chaplain’s rounds, and much more.
In 2012, these dedicated volunteers together contributed 11,543 hours of their time to McLeod Loris Seacoast, saving an estimated $255,562 it would have cost in salaries and benefits had these been paid employees.
Volunteers play a very important role in helping to provide high quality, cost effective healthcare. They provide a valuable service and are an important part of the McLeod Loris Seacoast team.
National Volunteer Week has been recognized in the United States since 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the week as an annual celebration of volunteering.
