McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLeod Health welcomes Heather Leisy, MD, MBA, MPH, and Lauren N. Shurtliff, MD, to the medical staff.

Dr. Leisy has joined McLeod Occupational Health. She is serving as Medical Director of Occupational Health Onsite Services and the Healthier You Program.

As a child, Dr. Leisy was intrigued by science. This fascination led her to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2011, followed by a Physician Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2015. In 2018, Dr. Leisy completed her Residency Training in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health and a Master of Public Health: Health Analytics Concentration at Stony Brook University, in Stony Brook, New York.

With a passion for encouraging others to live a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Leisy discovered her love for population health. In her new role, Dr. Leisy collaborates with a team of Care Managers, industries and McLeod Health employees to establish a personalized health care plan for individuals participating in the Healthier You Program.

Dr. Shurtliff joins the Department of Inpatient Medicine at McLeod Regional Medical Center serving patients as a Hospitalist.

A 2018 graduate of the McLeod Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Shurtliff has volunteered as Resident Coordinator for the Mercy Medical Clinic since her arrival in Florence. Dr. Shurtliff earned her medical degree in 2015 at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.  She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, South Carolina Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, and the American Medical Association.
