McLeod Dillon Sponsors its 23rd Annual Teen Volunteer Program

McLEOD DILLION 20 APRIL 2011

(4/20/11) – McLeod Medical Center Dillon is sponsoring its 23rd Annual Teenage Volunteer Program for Summer 2011. Volunteer youth will have the opportunity to work with healthcare professionals in many areas of the hospital.

"As young people are thinking about their life career choices, what better way to learn about the opportunities in healthcare than to see doctors, nurses, technologists and therapists in action? Teenage Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn and feel appreciated for their efforts," said Estelle Ellis, Teen Volunteer Coordinator.

Teenage Volunteers must be 14 to 18 years old with at least a B average in school, have their parents consent and encouragement, purchase a uniform, and volunteer at least 20 hours each month during the summer. The volunteer must also attend an orientation program at the hospital and have a health assessment performed at the hospital at no cost. The health assessment is required for all hospital employees. A current immunization record is also required.

Teenagers that are interested in participating should pick up an application at the Information Desk located in the hospital’s front lobby between May 5 and May 12 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Applications must be completed and returned by May 19th.

For more information, please contact Estelle Ellis at (843) 487-1293. The number of volunteers will be limited, so please do not delay.
