The latest issue of McLeod Magazine has been published and is now available in print and online.

Kennedy and Lillie Gaines, featured on the cover of this issue, share a unique bond few sisters have the opportunity to experience. Their parents, Michael and Amy Gaines of Darlington, struggled for years to conceive and began the adoption process. It was then they discovered they were pregnant. The couple adopted Kennedy, born on September 1, 2016, and 13 days later, welcomed Lillie into the world. During Amy’s and Lillie’s hospital stay, the McLeod Women’s Services team allowed Kennedy to stay as well so the family of four could bond during those intimate moments. The story of this miracle family is shared on page 4 of this issue.

In addition to the story of the Gaines’ family, this issue features stories on the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure and the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation with the McLeod Heart and Vascular Team, Total Ankle Replacement Surgery, the use of Pulmonary Rehabilitation to condition a patient for a lung transplant as well as the excellent outcomes achieved by our physicians and medical teams at each of our hospitals.
