Hippy Feet Donates $5,500 to McLeod Children’s Hospital HERO Fund

14 APRIL 2023

A gift to McLeod Children’s Hospital was made on April 13, 2023, as a result of the purchase of customized McLeod Health socks.

To recognize the work of McLeod Health teams throughout the transition to the Epic Medical Record System, McLeod purchased socks customized with McLeod Health colors and logo through Hippy Feet.

A Minneapolis, Minnesota-based sock and apparel manufacturer, Hippy Feet is committed to donating 50% of net profits to non-profit organizations serving young people experiencing homelessness.

Hippy Feet CEO and Founder Michael Mader presented a donation of $5,506.00 to the McLeod Children’s Hospital HERO Fund.

Established to meet the pressing needs of children who receive care in the hospital, these funds are used to bridge the gap for children and their families who are experiencing financial struggles. The HERO Funds are used to provide assistance with services such as:

o   Formula for babies going home from the NICU

o   Clothing for children who are victims of trauma, accidents or abuse

o   Specialized car seats for children with disabilities

o   Bridging the gap for pediatric medications

o   Transportation assistance for travel to healthcare providers

o   Specialized equipment, which could include wheelchairs, monitors, and supplies to manage diabetes

o   Other specific needs which can be a barrier to the child’s care

McLeod Children’s Hospital is one of only four Children’s Hospitals in South Carolina and cares for more than 56,000 children each year. Today, 100 beds are dedicated to providing specialized care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and General Pediatrics. The McLeod journey to medical excellence has resulted in expanded services, specialized care teams, advanced technology and more. With this level of care close to home, children and their families no longer have to leave the community for their healthcare needs.
