Festival of Trees and A Day With Santa

McLEOD HEALTH FOUNDATION 10 OCTOBER 2011

(10/10/11) – McLeod Children’s Hospital invites you to the Festival of Trees… but don’t forget the Festival of Trees is MOVING!

Come join the festivities at She Magazine’s Pink Christmas on November 18 and 19 at the Florence Civic Center.

You will not want to miss this holly jolly day. Experience A Day with Santa with your child and holiday shopping during the Pink Christmas event. You will also be able to view and bid on trees and holiday trimmings.

Last year, the Festival of Trees raised more than $40,000 for the McLeod Children’s Hospital. These funds were used to help
purchase a new transport isolette for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Since 1992, a specially designated Children’s Hospital Ambulance has transported children and newborns from community hospitals throughout the region to high-tech, lifesaving specialists at the McLeod Children’s Hospital, which serves as the referral center for the Pee Dee and Grand Strand region.

For this reason, there is an urgency to maintain state of the art equipment to provide the highest level of care to the smallest patients. The purchase of the new transport isolette allows McLeod to provide two lifesaving technologies which were not previously available on the ChildReach ambulance. High Frequency Ventilation for the tinier babies and Nitric Oxide Therapy for the larger infants. In the past, infants who required these types of therapy had to wait for transport by either MUSC in Charleston or Palmetto Richland in Columbia. Time is critical for high risk babies and the addition of this isolette has
improved outcomes in the region.

This equipment also allows McLeod to continue to provide excellent care with the latest technology. These critical additions to the standard of care help make McLeod a Children’s Hospital, and not just a hospital that cares for children.
