Duke Energy Foundation Awards McLeod Foundation Grants to Benefit Cheraw, Clarendon and Dillon Hospitals

The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $10,000 to the McLeod Health Foundation for Rural Hospital Care Equity and Assistance Initiatives. The funds were recently presented to teams at McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Health Dillon.
 

McLeod Health Cheraw
McLeod Health Cheraw received $1,500 for the hospital’s Compassionate Care Fund. “This fund assists patients with needed medications and equipment upon discharge, who could not afford these items otherwise,” said Bren Lowe, CEO of McLeod Health Cheraw. “We are grateful for the partnership with the Duke Energy Foundation in serving the community’s healthcare needs.”

Participating in the grant presentation were Casey Rasmussen, Development Officer with the McLeod Health Foundation; Bren Lowe, CEO of McLeod Health Cheraw; Belinda Mcgilvray, AVP of Case Management at McLeod Health; Elizabeth Jones, Executive Director of the McLeod Health Foundation; Lauren Baker, Duke Energy; and Beth Odom, Case Manager with McLeod Health Cheraw.

McLeod Health Clarendon
McLeod Health Clarendon plans to purchase two new clinical recliners for the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit with the $5,000 they were awarded by the Duke Energy Foundation. These recliners will provide more comfort and safety features for ICU patients. “The generous support of the Duke Energy Foundation will allow for more enhanced care for patients,” said Rachel Gainey, CEO of McLeod Health Clarendon. “We appreciate the partnership of our community partners in delivering our mission of improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve.”

Buterbaugh, Duke Energy; and Rachel Gainey, CEO of McLeod Health Clarendon.

McLeod Health Dillon
A new baby bassinet will be purchased for McLeod Health Dillon with the $3,500 grant they received. This will upgrade the hospital’s suite of bassinets with one that is easier for post-partum mothers to use, especially those who are recovering from a C-section. “At McLeod Health Dillon Obstetrics/Labor & Delivery/Nursery, it is our goal to provide our moms and babies with the best possible care. We take great pride in ensuring they remain safe and healthy, and feel they deserve to have an experience they will cherish for a lifetime,” said Jenny Hardee, CEO of McLeod Health Dillon. “We are so very grateful for the generosity of Duke Energy Foundation in helping us obtain our goal and for sharing in our passion for loving new babies.”
